Recently, I reviewed the Papalook webcam with USB and microphone. And, while it had great features, I wanted to compare another webcam that a colleague recommended, especially when it’s priced at only $90.
Here’s what I thought after trying the AUSDOM AF640 webcam.
Although this manufacturer is most known for its wireless headphones, it recently has expanded its technology portfolio into the webcam industry.
About the AUSDOM AF640 Webcam
The AUSDOM AF640Webcam offers 1080P Full HD. The auto focus video camera has an integrated, omni-directional microphone that makes it ideal for using with Skype and YouTube live streaming. You can also use it with Zoom, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, and more.
The built-in stereo mic works with the webcam’s noise reduction technology, which helps reduce circuit and background noise. The maximum resolution is 1920*1080 pixel. It offers a wide 90-degree angle of view so it works well with a laptop or desktop. Other features include automatic white balance and automatic low-light correction.
The base of the webcam is hinged so it can easily be adjusted to fit snugly on a laptop, monitor, or a boom arm.
The USB webcam has plug and play capability that is compatible with Mac OS, Android, Chrome, and Windows 10/8/7/XP.
Pros and Cons
The first pro is that the webcam is plug and play, which is my favorite. I had no issues with set-up. It is made well and looks like it is built to go the distance for years of video conferencing and live streaming.
I also like the long USB cable and the 1/4′-20mm built-in mount. Both make this easy to work with in different environments.
The only con for such a low-priced webcam is the low light performance. Although it does have features that help with this aspect of the visual delivery, it’s not as effective as those on other webcams I’ve used.
In the Box
The webcam comes with a user manual and USB cable.
Where to Buy
It’s available through the company’s Amazon store and includes free shipping and free returns.
It’s an easy and affordable way to start online meeting, video conferencing, and chat calling with colleagues. With the lower-cost — you don’t have to be as careful and can find yourself doing truly unique and funny shots with this camera.
The available replacement for the popular webcams from Logitech can deliver good and reliable picture and sound quality. If you want to keep your costs low and access a webcam that still does a lot and is readily available while others are completely sold out — then this is the webcam for you
